Buikwe District, Uganda — August 9, 2025
In a bold move to strengthen livelihoods and promote self-reliance, Hon. Diana Mutasingwa, State Minister in the Office of the Vice President and Woman MP for Buikwe District, led a transformative outreach on August 9 that touched both the agricultural and vocational sectors of her constituency.
Maize Seeds for Agricultural Expansion
At the Buikwe District Headquarters, Hon. Mutasingwa distributed over 1 ton of maize seeds to more than 20 maize-growing farmers’ groups across the district. This initiative is designed to help farmers expand their acreage and increase maize production, paving the way for surplus sales and improved household incomes.
“These farmers can now cultivate larger fields and produce more maize for surplus sales,” Hon. Mutasingwa said. “With bigger harvests, this initiative will boost farming incomes and transform agriculture into a reliable engine for both prosperity and food security for our farmers.”
The seed distribution marks a significant step toward agricultural modernization in Buikwe, where farming remains a vital economic pillar.
Tailoring Tools for Youth Empowerment
Later in the day, Hon. Mutasingwa visited Nkonko Parish in Wakisi, Njeru Municipality, where she handed over sewing machines to young people who had recently graduated from a tailoring program. The gesture was a celebration of their achievement and a practical boost to their entrepreneurial journey.
“Congratulations to them!” she said. “They should continue to put their skills to profitable use for guaranteed success.”
By equipping youth with tools to start their own businesses, Hon. Mutasingwa is fostering a culture of self-employment and resilience among the next generation.
Driving Inclusive Growth in Buikwe
From seeds to sewing machines, Hon. Mutasingwa’s August 9 outreach reflects her commitment to inclusive development—empowering farmers to feed the nation and youth to build their futures. Her hands-on leadership continues to inspire hope and progress across Buikwe District.
