Buikwe District, Uganda — July 18, 2025 In a resounding show of support, Hon. Diana Mutasingwa has emerged victorious in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primary elections, securing the party’s flag for the Woman Member of Parliament seat in Buikwe District ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The results, announced early Friday morning, confirmed Mutasingwa’s dominance in the race, reaffirming her popularity and political strength in the region. While official vote tallies are still being finalized, preliminary reports indicate she won by a significant margin, outpacing her rivals with ease.
Mutasingwa, who currently serves as the State Minister in the Office of the Vice President, has built a reputation as a grassroots mobilizer and development champion. Her tenure has been marked by initiatives aimed at improving access to clean water, empowering women and youth through vocational training, and advocating for land rights in Buikwe.
Her re-election as the NRM flag bearer comes amid a wave of upsets across the country, with several incumbent ministers losing their seats in the primaries. However, Mutasingwa’s victory signals continued confidence in her leadership and a strong endorsement from the party base.
Speaking to jubilant supporters in Njeru Municipality, Mutasingwa expressed gratitude for the trust placed in her and pledged to continue serving with “integrity, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the people of Buikwe.”
With the NRM ticket secured, Mutasingwa now turns her focus to the 2026 general elections, where she is expected to face opposition candidates in what could be a closely watched race.
